The Timberlane girls volleyball team is having a breakout season compared to last year’s struggles. Currently standing at 10-8, the team has already doubled their win total from last season, where they finished 3-15. Players and supporters are noting a dramatic shift not just in winning more games, but in attitude, chemistry and overall team spirit.
One of the most noticeable changes has been the team’s chemistry and focus. Two year caption, Ashlee Salafia, shared how different things feel this year compared to last year, “This year versus last year I feel there’s a big difference between the chemistry, so I feel that’s something that’s showing a little more success for us. Everyone is in it this year.”
The connection is showing on the court. The girls are fighting harder for every point, playing more cohesively, and keeping matches competitive even against tough opponents. Some of the close games were against Bedford high school winning 3-2 and losing to Londonderry high school with the final scoring being 2-3.
Bella Johnson, a Timberlane volleyball fan, said,“I think overall the girls volleyball team has been doing a really good job holding their own on the court and in each set they’re doing a really good job fighting for the ball and for the each point. The games I’ve been to they haven’t been 100% successful as far as the set points go but in each of the sets they fight for each point and they make each set really close and I think they’re doing a great job just staying in the game.”
Avery gives credit to the team’s success to strong coaching, “Amazing team chemistry we have amazing coaching this year and everyone’s in it.”
As the regular season continues the Timberline girls volleyball team is proving that hard work, teamwork, and determinations can turn things around. Their progress is measured not only in wins, but in the renewed confidence, energy, and belief.
Looking ahead, the owls are focused on finishing the season strong in the playoffs. With their improved chemistry and fighting spirit.
