The warm sand on the beach, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, and playing spikeball or football with your friends on the beach are things you can’t get from winter. There’s no better feeling than walking outside on a warm sunny day.
One thing every student appreciates from summer is a break from school. The long 2-3 month break from school where students can hangout with friends, play sports, or even work to make money is incomparable to the little 1-2 week break we get in the winter. Depending on if you’re a college or high school, right before or after your winter break you have all of your finals to study for. This ruins the vibe of vacation which is something that doesn’t happen in the summer.
According to a survey done by Rasmussen Reports, summer is favored by 24% of people while winter was only picked by 10% of people. In this survey, they asked 1,255 Americans what their favorite season was. (Rasmussen Reports) A quarter of the population agrees that summer is the best season but much more people prefer summer over winter. In the survey, winter by far was by far the least popular season with only 11% of people picking it to be the favorite.
Landon Petry, a student at Timberlane Regional High School was asked if he prefers summer or winter and why? Landon’s response was, “As much as I love skiing in the winter, I also love going to the beach with friends in the nice weather and obviously it can’t get any better than no school for a couple months.” While there are still good things in the winter, summer just has so many more pros, and you have the ability to do so much more.
