Tiger Woods, one of golf’s greatest players ever to play, also is arguably the most troubled off the course. He has so many accolades, including winning the Masters five times, 2nd most in tournament history. He is one of five people to win back to back Masters, and he is the youngest to ever win the Masters at the age of 21. Many consider him to be the greatest ever.
Even with all that success, he has had a lot of problems in his personal life. Tiger Woods has been involved in 4 major car accidents and was confirmed driving under the influence once in 2017 and again in 2026. The car accidents occurred in 2009( fire hydrant/ tree), 2017(arrest), 2021(severe rollover) and 2026 ( rollover arrest) according to CNN.
The 2026 arrest occurred on March 27th in his hometown of Florida. His range rover flipped on the driver’s side. The cops were rightfully suspicious of the accident based on his past, so they had him take a breathalyzer. Surprisingly, he put up zeros on the breathalyzer but he took field sobriety tests after being lethargic. Cops claimed that Woods was sweating profusely and had glassy eyes. Tiger Woods was handcuffed and he is now believed to be in Switzerland getting treatment, according to the New York Post.
Tiger Woods claimed he was “ashamed” of this. A court filing will be showing Woods prescription drug records. Woods told the officers that he had seven back surgeries and over 20 on his leg so he said “I take a few prescription medications”. After the accident, he resigned from the 2026 Masters to better himself.
Tiger Woods has been considered the G.O.A.T. golfer by fans and critics, but will he ruin his legacy with all these controversies?
