The Boston Celtics are thriving. They are currently 2nd in the Eastern Conference behind the Detroit Pistons. This season was expected to be an off year, especially with star player Jayson Tatum out for most of the season with an Achilles injury. A big reason for their success is Jaylen Brown. He is playing at an MVP level and has taken over as the number one option.
Success is not only about who is playing on the court, it happens with the coaching and the general managers according to Radio Show host Felger from Felger and Mazz. Boston’s head coach Joe Mazzulla is a heavy favorite to win coach of the year. What he has done with this roster and not having their Champion and All Star Tatum is amazing. According to player Luka Garza, Mazzulla is “tough” and “real” and “one of the best coaches in the league”. But, you cannot ignore the GM Brad Stevens. He has drafted amazing players in the past 8 drafts. The Celtics have had some sleeper picks that have arrived from the G League and play crucial roles for this team. The way Brad handles money and who is on the team is really elite.
This team is already a contender, and according to Shams, “Jayson Tatum will make his debut March 6th” making this team even more elite. Tatum tore his achilles in the playoffs last year against the Knicks. If he makes his return he will be at 10 months recovery, which will be quick but not uncommon. As the playoffs approach, they are hoping to get Tatum back in the mix to really pursue the championship at full potential.
