AI is being used on a day to day basis whether it’s at work at school or anywhere. Artificial intelligence has had a massive impact on how we get things done. In hospitals, it can act as a smart assistant for doctors, helping them spot diseases faster and cutting down on boring paperwork. It also has started to be used to fight climate change by making the use of energy more efficient. With this happening, it can add trillions of dollars to the world’s economy in upcoming years. Expert Michael Cheng-Tek Tai Department of medical Sociology and social work stated ¨ There are many positive impacts on humans as well, especially in the field of healthcare.
AI gives computers the capacity to learn, reason, and apply logic. Scientists, medical researchers, clinicians, mathematicians, and engineers, when working together, can design an AI that is aimed at medical diagnosis and treatments, thus offering reliable and safe systems of health-care delivery. As health professors and medical researchers endeavor to find new and efficient ways of treating diseases, not only the digital computer can assist in analyzing, robotic systems can also be created to do some delicate medical procedures with precision. Here, we see the contribution of AI to health care. ¨
There is another side to Artificial intelligence that makes people nervous. ¨ A main concern is its capacity to automate jobs potentially causing displacement variation¨ This was stated by the University of Phoenix on the University of Phoenix website. According to many experts, people should be worried that AI could take over millions of jobs. This will leave workers wondering what they will do next. There has also been a problem with the fairness of AI. This is because it learns from human data meaning it can pick up our mistakes. Sometimes it picks up our bad habits and biases which can definitely lead to unfair treatment. If people keep feeding AI data that hasn’t been thought out and is flawed then it will just be one-sided data.
Overall the benefit or drawback of AI is truly up to the person using it and how they perceive if it is beneficial or not. It is used to avoid the critical thinking process. AI should be treated as an assistant rather than the main focus. Meaning if there are little questions then that is what it´s there for, but if it is being used for the bigger picture then that is incorrect.
