The Dancing with the Stars 34th winning couple has been crowned. The season started with 14 couples on the floor and quickly narrowed down week by week to only five. The finale consisted of Alix Earle, Dylan Efron, Elaine Hendrix, Jordan Chiles, and Robert Irwin crowning the winner to be Robert Irwin.
All 5 couples competed in 3 separate dances throughout the 2 hour broadcast. The 3 dances were judges choice, instant dance, and freestyle. Judges’ choice round is made for the judges to choose the style of dance and give some advice. The instant dance wasn’t given time, the dancers were only given a couple minutes to prepare. Lastly, the freestyle is the round where the celebrity chooses the song and style and makes the dance into their own.
The winner being announced was such exciting news, but many people disagreed on how the finale played out. “I think that based on the way the finale went and Robert messing up, Alix deserved it more. However, I love Robert,”said Lacie Bowman. Alix got a perfect score throughout the whole night, while Robert scored a 89/90. He got one 9 from the judges choice dance and was even caught forgetting steps in the instant dance, said ABC news. A few fans of the show, Taylor Alperin, Kristen Baier, Brooke Burnett, and Brooke White all agreed that Alix should’ve won the whole thing.
Two of the celebrities, Alix Earle and Robert Irwin, had a large fan base on social media with over 20 million combined followers. Alix Earle became famous very quickly on TikTok and this attracted a lot of younger viewers to Dancing With the Stars. The first episode of this season had a record breaking amount of votes from viewers with 21 million that is up 163% from season 33, said ABC. The number of votes climbed higher and higher every single week with the finale having 72 million votes. Star Robert Irwin was the winner but also the most votes ever in history were cast in his favor.
Robert Irwin has made family history by winning the show. Winning a whole decade after his sister, Bindi, in season 21. They became the first celebrity siblings to win the mirrorball. Many fans believed that Robert was favored by judge Derek Hough because he was Bindi’s partner. Also, he is officially the youngest male winner at 22 years old.
