A player for the Dallas Cowboys was found dead at the age of 24 on the side of a highway in Texas. He was found on Thursday, November 6th of 2025 following a police pursuit and vehicle crash. Evidence shows his cause of death is different than many may think.
Around 10:33 on Wednesday night, troopers attempted to stop Marshawn Kneeland’s car due to a traffic violation. According to NBC news, “Police led a pursuit but ended up losing the vehicle before locating it again minutes later, crashed on Southbound Dallas Parkway.” The man later identified as Kneeland had fled on foot, found again at 1:31am, deceased with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Marshawn’s family spoke to news outlets questioning whether he really died by suicide. A quote from his cousin speaking to Yahoo news says, “I truly think they killed him, I truly do, because why else would he run for his life then kill himself in a porta potty?” referring to Texas police officers. His family states that they had plans for the following weekend and that it is unlike him to take his own life.
According to TMZ, Kneeland was struggling with mental health and texted his family goodbye Thursday, November 6th. During the search for Kneeland, officers received information that he expressed suicidal ideations. The media spread rumors that drugs and alcohol could have been a factor but the family immediately shut them down.
