Charlie Kirk was a 31 year old American political activist. He toured around many college campuses debating and spreading his opinion to the younger generation. After high school, he attended Illinois Community College. According to the BBC, shortly after starting his academics he dropped out to focus on political activism. Bill Montgomery was the man who encouraged him to skip college and launch his career, later becoming his mentor. When he was 18, he was a founder of Turning Point USA, which is an American non-profit organization that advocates politics for high school, college, and university campuses. Once he reached age 22, he spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention. President Trump was in attendance and led to Kirk and Trump meeting. Kirk became closer to president Trump and changed the face of the Republican party. This changed the Republican party because Charlie rose as a new voice. According to CNN, In 2024 he became a pivotal voice that led to Trump picking Vance as his Vice President.
Charlie Kirk married Erika Frantzve in 2021 when he was 27. They welcomed a daughter in 2022 and then a son in 2024. They chose not to disclose their children’s names due to privacy reasons. Erika and their children continued to stay by Charlie’s side throughout all debates. Erika also was elected CEO and chair for the board of Turning Point USA.
While many college students agreed with his opinions plenty of others disagreed. One student even took it way too far. Charlie Kirk was assassinated September 10, 2025 at Utah Valley University. He was shot in the neck while debating about gun rights with a student on campus and was carried out immediately following the shooting. CNN stated that when he was shot he was killed almost instantly and didn’t suffer.
A massive man hunt was underway soon after the shooting. The college campus was on lockdown for a couple of hours while searching for the suspect. According to Fox News, 33 hours after the murder, Tyler Robinson turned himself in as the murderer. He was immediately taken into custody for his upcoming court hearing.
After some investigation, the New York Times stated that the bullets used to murder him contained multiple inappropriate messages. Robinson didn’t agree with Charlie’s beliefs and often thought he was spreading hate against his community. BBC reported that Tyler Robinson said, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.” According to WhiteHouse.gov President Donald Trump made October 14, 2025 a national day of remembrance for Charlie Kirk. Trump wants the American people to assemble and pay homage to Charlie’s memory in hope that he will be remembered forever.
