Over the course of humanity there have been many, many, many, questions that have been asked. These questions can vary from what is the best recipe for fried chicken, to what is a meme, to why do people fart?

Among this vast land of questions there is one question, that many people can’t find a clear answer to, and that is, Is water wet?

This question was a meme back in 2016 to 2018 and was quite a big thing back then, with compilations and people racking up hundreds of thousands of views because of this joke. Though the question itself when it comes down to the scientific part of it was answered long ago, the joke came around as being quite ironic, considering that water is well, to many people, wet.

When it comes down to the scientific part of the question, water is only wet when touching another surface, alone water is actually not wet, considering the fact that water itself isn’t actually wet, and it only wets things.  The technical definition of wet is, ¨covered or saturated in water or another liquid.¨ Things such as magma, and even the air is technically wet, considering that in the air are tiny particles of H20 and in magma are molten liquid metals and crystals that “wet” the magma.

The question itself was answered with a quick old google search in which the first result states ¨Water isn’t wet by itself, but it makes other materials wet when it sticks to the surface of them.¨ Though simple to find, many people still don’t believe that water isn’t wet, Bringing up the point of “If water isn’t wet, then is it dry.” Though a good point, the definition of being dry is being free of moisture or liquid; Not wet and dry. This would mean that water is not wet or dry, but simply itself.

Though I doubt that the original question, is water wet wasn’t more than a joke, I guess it doesn’t hurt to have the knowledge of knowing, is water wet or not.
