On Black Friday this year, Target had an intriguing but ultimately dissapointing deal on Black Friday this year. Target gave out free gift bags filled with gifts and candy that were given only to the first 100 customers in the store. According to corporate.target.com, customers would receive fun, holiday favorites and the first 10 lucky customers would even receive prizes ranging from $99 to $350. This gave customers excitement and motivation to show up early to stores, making Targets around the nation one of the most popular and anticipated stores for Black Friday 2025.
This deal lured in customers and seemed like a perfect Black Friday Deal. But due to the public response, it seems the deal was too good to be true. When asked about his experience with the Target Swag Bags, Sophomore at Timberlane High School, Nolan Barry stated, “Me and my family were really excited to get these bags but honestly it was kind of disappointing. It only had a few small things and it just wasn’t worth the chaos.”
Other people agreed with this and it gained a lot of attention on social media. People were furious with the company and criticized them for being a billion dollar company and yet giving such disappointing gifts. One critic according to the New York Post said, “Y’all gonna have them wait outside in the freezing cold in some of these areas just for y’all to give them gummy clusters?” a TikTok user moaned, “That’s diabolical, man.” This shows the unfairness of the whole situation.
With such high expectations for this Black Friday Deal, Target let down many people this year. It wasn’t just about the quantity and quality of the gifts but the promises Target gave to the people that was such a disappointment. This failure of a promotion could cause a lot of harm to the company and make customers not fully trust future deals from Target.
