Could this be the year when the Timberlane Owls Boys Lacrosse team takes home that trophy? After a disappointing loss last season in the semi finals to Portsmouth, the Owls are looking to get back to the finals as they did 2 years ago. After losing some talented players from last year such as Eric George and Ethan Gary they seem as though they haven’t skipped a beat.

The Owls are off to a hot 7-1 start with their only loss coming to Portsmouth by a score of 10-7 in a game that went down to the final minute. The Owls have their mid season schedule coming up with the only challenge Derryfield coming up later in the month. Owls senior Braidon Bowman is having a great season so far and hitting the 100 goal milestone puts him in rare company including stars like Villanova’s Matt Licata. We asked Braidon how he thinks the team will do come the postseason “I think we will do really well, probably make the semi finals or championship because we are rolling through the competition and had a great game against Portsmouth.”

Looking forward to the season the Owls have a big test vs the Undefeated Derryfield coming up soon. This will be a barnburner and something has to give in this David vs Goliath matchup. If anyone could do it, I’ll take the Owls with their lockdown defense including Braden Perras and Gary Shivell. If the team focuses on the task at hand an upset could be at play.

Year after year the Owls are in contention to raise a banner and something feels like this could be the season they get over the hump. With a veteran roster and many contributing underclassmen this roster could be the best in recent history. Not to mention a hall of fame coach in Ken Blaszka who has led the Owls wagon for decades. This team is nothing short of special and anything other than a championship could be a disappointment to the team.
