Ava was a 14-year-old girl who attended Durgee Jr. High School in Baldwinsville, NY. On January 20th Ava was allegedly shot and killed by her father at her house.  After he killed her, he committed suicide.

Her mother, Heather wood just that day told the police she wasn’t at school and she was concerned. Also Christopher, Ava’s father, also said “This is how it ends for us.” And also stated he’s been depressed lately.  Just days before the killing County Sheriff, Toby Shelley said that Ava’s father had been sending threatening to Heather and also stalking her by showing up at her location where he shouldn’t have known where she was. He would repeatedly call her till she would answer, she didn’t want to press charges to keep the relationship together but wanted the document for the divorce papers, according to Sheriff Shelley.

Ava was on the JV soccer team and was a key leader for the team. Ava’s soccer coach said, “Ava has been part of our program since 7th grade making a huge impact on it. She had an energizing personality on and off the field. Ava was often seen on the field with two different cleats on. She was the MVP of our JV team this year. Our soccer family is devastated by this unimaginable loss.”

Then, her family came out with a statement, “We want to begin by expressing our gratitude for the outpouring of love that we’ve received in the last 24 hours—it is the love and support from our community that will sustain us in the coming days.” A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help their family with expenses during this tough time.
