TRHS Boys soccer won their first game this season against Alvirne. It was a nail biter in overtime and it had been a long time coming. The team has been improving during the season and have been finally rewarded with a big win and hopefully it leads to more W’s. With the season nearly done the soccer team is almost out of time to rack in more wins and end it on a good note.

The game was ended by an assist from senior goalie Sean Ward to captain Ryan Liberatore who scored a screamer to snap the Owls’ losing streak. Unfortunately for the team, this win hasn’t carried over much momentum to their games after the big win, losing all 3 of their next games.  The next game is against Spaulding this Wednesday and is very much a winnable game. Be sure to show up and support the Owls even though they are playing away at 4 PM.

To get insight on how the team’s morale has been uplifted by the win we interviewed varsity goalie Sean Ward. When asked how they felt finally securing a win under their belt he said “It felt amazing and it couldn’t have come in any better way” he stated,

“The overtime win was electric.”

It appears that squads energy has had a major shift and they are hungrier than ever before to keep catching dubs. Sean also said that in order for the wins to keep rolling in, they have to practice harder and do whatever it takes to be on the winning side when the game ends.

There are only 3 games left in the season after the Spaulding game and they will be challenging ones for sure. As long as the Owls keep putting in the hard work the results will start to show. Even though their record might not be the best, it does not reflect how skilled they are and they should not be taken lightly by any of the teams they face in the coming weeks.
