Yoga is the most beneficial exercise of all time. Sometimes when people think of yoga they think of just stretching. There is more to yoga than just stretching. It is beneficial to your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Yoga is a form of meditation in a physical way. It heals your gut and your whole body. Doing yoga will increase muscle strength and tone, improve respiration, energy and vitality. I believe we should all access yoga at some point in our day for our own well-being.

How do I start?

Here are some easy tips and tricks to start. First you need to find a peaceful environment to be in. Whether it’s your room, your living room, outside, etc. You should use a yoga mat so you don’t slide, but it isn’t needed. Then you will want to search up a guided video. Some videos are good and some aren’t, finding one that makes you feel comfortable and at ease is a must.

When should I do it?

Yoga can be done whenever you feel you want to do it. There are different types of yoga. Such as yin yoga, vinyasa, ashtanga, hot yoga and more. If you’re looking for a relaxing stretch, yin yoga is the best option. The poses are held for 2-3 minutes and the breathing work is very deep. It can cause a lot of emotions when doing it but you will learn to stay focused. We hold a lot of tension in our hips and doing poses to stretch them will release all negative and excess tension! Doing yin yoga at night helps relax muscles and prepare for a good night’s rest. More fast stretches and breathing techniques in the morning will give you relaxing and fulfilling energy for the day.

Whether you are a yogi or not, everyone should dedicate time to their emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health. It is never too late to start. Start by transforming your body and mind with the balance and peace that comes with yoga and the meditation with it.
