The New England Patriots franchise has been the best football franchise over the last decade they have won six super bowls tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and with the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys right behind with five super bowls.

The Patriots have been the best franchise but the past few years we have struggled to maintain a winning record when Tom Brady, supposedly the best quarterback to ever play left the Patriots in March 2020 signing a 25 million dollar contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The NFL was taken by surprise by this. No one expected Tom Brady to leave the Patriots and Bill Belichick and Patriots fans till this day are upset about Tom Brady leaving. Most fans can never forgive him.

This definitely was the decline for the patriots. How would they play without their star quarterback for the past 20 years carrying them to six super bowls.

This event led to the Patriots signing Cam Newton Former MVP for the Carolina Panthers on July 8th 2020 he was coming off an injury last season fans and coaches would think Cam Newton a running quarterback fit into the Patriots system with Bill Belichick who doesn’t like running quarterbacks. Cam Newton would then be the starting quarterback for the 2021 season where the Patriots would end the season 7-9 are first losing season since 2011. We had the longest Playoff streak of any team; it was ten years and we won three super bowls during those 10 seasons. Cam ended the season with just barely over 2500 passing yards, 8 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions, very bad for a former MVP. 

Although the Patriots had a rough 2020 season, the offseason was something Patriots fans looked forward to after the Patriots spent more than 268 million dollars in free agency and ended up getting the 15th pick in 2021. This brought high hopes for fans in bringing the franchise back to the playoffs. With the 15th pick in the 2021 draft Bill Belichick took quarterback from Alabama Mac Jones, Mac Jones is the first quarterback Bill Belichick selected in the first round. Patriots fans were questionable on this pick up; they would have no idea who would be their starting quarterback. Training Camp has started and we finally find out who got the starting job. It was the rookie Mac Jones Bill cut Cam Newton earlier that week. 

Next season would be a good season for the Patriots Mac Jones ended the year with over 3,800 yards, 22 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions pretty good for a rookie quarterback. The Patriots ended the season with a record of 10-7 they made the playoffs and would go against the Buffalo Bills in the wildcard round the best team in the AFC East. The Buffalo Bills destroyed the Patriots 47-17 this was embarrassing for the Patriots and the fans they had never been beaten this badly in a playoff game. Now the Patriots are 1-3 in the 2022 season will the dynasty fall to the floor or will Mac Jones be the next Tom Brady.
