Tiger is back! As most of you sports fans probably know, the biggest golf weekend of the season happened this past weekend. The Masters. Tiger Woods made an amazing appearance. This was Tiger’s first start in 17 months. Just over a year ago, in February of 2021,  Woods was involved in a horrific car accident that nearly took his right leg. His car hit the center median, then crossed over into the other lane, hit a curb, then a tree, and flipped over several times. Many people believe that Woods may have been under the influence, and that is what caused the crash, but none of this is confirmed. 

Tiger made an amazing recovery in just 14 months. Nobody thought it was possible for him to not only make an appearance in the masters, but to really compete, and look like he belongs. Tiger simply can not stop playing golf competitively. He’s got the bug. During Wood’s practice round he shot +4 over par 76. This was nothing to write home about for Tiger but very good for a 46 year old who was 14 months past a horrific car accident. However, when the tournament officially kicked off, it was game on for Tiger. The first two days of the tournament he shot +1 over par through 36 holes, and made the cut. 

During the final two days the weather was not in favor of the players. Woods really struggled shooting +12, tied for 47th place. This was Tiger’s worst round ever at the masters, yet he had an ear to ear grin on his face when he came off the 18th hole on sunday. With all things considered, everyone including Woods was very impressed with his performance, and that he was able to finish all 72 holes at The Masters.

When he walked off hole 18 on sunday, Woods told CBS, “I wasn’t exactly playing my best out there, but to just have the support out there — an appreciation from all the fans — I don’t think words can really describe that given where I was a little over a year ago and what my prospects were at that time. To end up here and be able to play all four rounds, even a month ago, I didn’t know if I could pull this off. I think it was a positive. I’ve got some work to do, and I’m looking forward to it.” After the tournament Woods confirmed that he will be playing in The Open in July this year. Everyone is excited to see what is next to come for Tiger Woods.
