The Duke basketball team is led by one of the greatest coaches of all time Mike Krzyzewski, he played at Army University from 1966 to 1969 he was a point guard. He served as an officer in the U.S Army 1969-1974. After he served he coached for his alma mater from 1975-1980. On March 18th 1980, he was assigned the head coach position at Duke University. After a few years of rebuilding he changed college basketball forever making Duke a powerhouse, and making one of the longest streaks of appearances in March Madness.

Duke was coming into the 2022 season with high expectations, being one of the highly recruited classes and having one of the best players Paolo Banchero. There was a lot on the line for this team this year, with Coach K making his retirement also. This is a huge loss to the basketball world, he coached the USA team and led them to many championships, he has 5 NCAA championships, and many more basketball and coaching awards.

They were ranked as the second seed in the West bracket starting off March Madness. This being Coach K last year, all the players wanted to end it off with giving him another NCAA championship. They started off playing CSU Fullerton in the first round and won 78-61, then played Michigan State 85-76. Next, they beat Texas Tech and won 78-73 in the sweet sixteen, then played Arkansas and won 78-69 in the elite eight. Finally, for the first time in March Madness history Duke played UNC, these two teams all rivals and the hype around this game was insane. UNC sadly defeated Duke with a score of 81-77 and ended their run in the tournament.

You either like Duke or you hate them, there is no in-between. They are known for being blue blood in the NCAA, like Kentucky, University of North Carolina, Kansas. I grew up watching sports and my brother faded towards liking Kentucky during March Madness and I always liked Duke and Coach K.
