A new movie came out on March 4th, 2022 called “Fresh.” It stars Sebastain Stan who plays Steve/Brendan and Daisy Edgar-Jones who plays Noa. In this thriller we see a woman in her early 20’s who is desperate to find the right man. She goes on several dates and after one being a complete nightmare she ends up at a grocery store shopping for food. While shopping Steve walks up to Noa and talks to her in a flirtatious manner and seems very friendly. They exchange numbers and after a couple of dates he invites her to go on a trip together. She says yes even though her best friend says that’s a little suspicious. They go to his place up north where things go south very quickly. This movie has a lot of ups and downs so I recommend paying good attention to little details. At the end you can place those little details together to make an even better movie. This movie will leave you on the edge of your seat yelling at the television. You find out who the true steve is and how really messed up he is. It makes you think that all normal seeming people may have a dark past.

I really enjoyed this movie and thought the plot twist at the end made it ten times better. I at first thought he was acting wierd but I thought he was either a murder or involved in a cult. I enjoyed the part where the friend tried to help and thought she was really funny. I also felt bad for Steve/Brendan’s wife and fake family. She was missing half her left leg and we know that she was one of Steve’s victims. Brandan’s wife also had to go through a lot. She thought he really loved her but he was also using her. I noticed while watching the movie that after we see the wife is missing a leg it shows Steve running which I think the director Mimi Cave tried to show who has control and who does not.  My favorite scene overall was when they are dancing at his house, because I think Noa makes it seem like she really likes him and is as crazy as him. My only complaint is that it was a little short and was slow in the beginning. I would rate this movie a 7.5/10. On IMDb they rate this movie a 6.7/10.

The ratings for this movie were a little all over the place. On Rotten Tomatoes they scored 81% on the tomatometer and  on the Audience score. This could be because the movie is so new and doesn’t have that many reviews yet. FlickeringMyth says, “What can be said without giving anything away is that screenwriter Lauryn Kahn has mounted her horror as a righteous indictment of the grim contemporary dating scene;” which I agree with. I think they put a weird beauty to the meat market and depict it as almost normal.
