NFL Offseason Madness

Eric George and Sean Hurley

The 2022 off season has already been a crazy one. Elite players are finding new homes left and right. Russel Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos for Drew Lock, Noah Fant, Shelby Harris, two first round picks and one fifth round draft pick. This makes the Denver Broncos an instant Super Bowl contender, but did they give up too much? The Broncos traded away most of their future for Russel Wilson. This is not the first time they have done something like this before. They traded for Peyton Manning in 2014 and won the superbowl. Could this be the same situation? Or could this be a disaster waiting to happen? Only time will tell.

The Seahawks appear to be going through a rebuild after trading away the face of their franchise. They now have tons of draft picks and a few new players to try and fill the Russel Wilson sized void he left in Seattle. On top of losing their quarterback they also cut their pro bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner. Needless to say,  the Seahawks have a lot of angry fans who are going to be over analyzing every move the team makes the rest of this off season.

Another big quarterback on the move this offseason is Deshaun Watson. He has been talking with several different teams during the past few weeks such as the Browns, the Eagles, the Saints, and Panthers. He was also talking to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before Tom Brady came out of retirement.  Deshaun Watson played in college at the University of Clemson where he led the team to a championship in 2016. Deshaun was the 12th overall pick in the 2017 draft. He was a rock at quarterback for the Texans for four years. During Deshuan’s NFL career he’s thrown for over fourteen thousand yards, one hundred and four touchdown and only thirty six picks. Needless to say this man has a bright future in the league.

He’s only twenty six years old,but the Texans mismanaged their best player. They traded away all of his best targets and offensive linemen for next to nothing in return. Watson also did not get along well with his head coaches and the owner of the team. They were not letting him make team decisions and Watson finally decided enough was enough. He refused to play for the team and demanded a trade out of Houston, While he was sitting out though he had many woman file sexual assault allegations about Watson. After a lengthy legal battle Watson was found not guilty. Once he was found not guilty NFL teams started swarming the Quarterback star. Whoever gets him is going to have to give up alot for him to come to town.

In conclusion, this year ’s offseason has been a crazy one. There have been lots of trades during this off season and I’m sure there will be many more when we start getting closer to the season. Also we still have no idea where Watson will go with this trade. Same thing with Russell Wilson we don’t know how he’s gonna do on the Broncos but we shall see this coming season.
