Matrix Resurrections, Was it Worth The Wait?

After the Matrix Trilogy came to close in 2004, Warner Brothers wanted to make another movie.  15 years later they had Lana Wachowski direct the sequel and most of the original cast came back.  It would not be a Matrix Movie without Keanu Reeves who was awesome as always.  I had an open mind going into it, which is rare because I usually hear something about every movie before I watch it.

I was most interested to see why they brought Neo and Trinity back from the dead.  After they both died at machine city in Matrix Revolutions, I was wondering why and how they were resurrected.  It was cool to see the scene of the machines repairing his body along with Trinity.  I also really liked to see them back together years later when they thought they would never see eachother again, because they were both dead.  I personally thought that the reasoning was goofy and could have been much better.  It seemed poorly thought out and If that part of the story was better than I would love this movie, but they relied on the old movies for ideas and not come up with new ones.

I was not sure if I was going to like the new Morpheus and Agent Smith, but I was pleasantly surprised.  Both may have been different, but the explanation for why they were brought back were valid in my opinion.

Every final battle of the original trilogy was entertaining.  Sadly the finale for the fourth movie was underwhelming and boring.  Neo was force pushing everything that got in his way and that wasn’t what I wanted. We had Neo do kung-fu and fight agent smith, just like he did in the trilogy but the fourth movie had mediocre fight scenes.   He was not even the one to fly at the end of the movie, like he did at the end of the first one.

I really liked the world building after the war in Matrix Revolutions.  The machines fought amongst themselves and they only touched on that subject when that was more interesting to watch.  All the new characters were fine but nothing beats the original cast with hard to replace actresses and actors.  The first movie was weird and different for its time and it would be hard to recreate.

If they make another one, I would like the story itself to make sense and actually have a reason to exist. I thought it was alright and I would give it a 6/10.
