Fortnite Battle Royale burst onto the scene in early 2017, and in August 2018 peaked in popularity with around 78.3 million active players. After steadily being the most popular game throughout 2019, in 2020 the game dropped in players dramatically after the world cup, although it had a little bit of a surge during quarantine, it was just a shell of its previous success. But in December 2021, Fortnite released its latest season and new chapter, which has many old players coming back to the game.

Fortnite chapter 3 season 1 was released December 2, 2021. This season has brought a whole new loot pool to the game unlike any we’ve seen. The first gun that has caused a lot of buzz in the community is the MK-7, it is the first time a red dot sight has been in fortnite on an automatic gun, and it is cracked. The tactical shotgun was taken out of the game completely, while the pump shotgun’s damage was lowered immensely.

The new meta for this update is the sub-machine gun, the SMG fire rate has gone up as well as its damage per second and accuracy, making it by far the best gun in the game. There are 7 different rarities of guns, common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, mythic, and exoctic. They changed the map and added new points of interests like Coney Crossroad, Sanctuary, The Joneses, The Daily Bugle, and many others. .There were so many new items added to the game, like Spider-Man’s web slingers, med mist, guzzle juice, and shield keg.

Fortnite is great at keeping its game fresh by adding new and trendy TikTok dances to its item shop, some examples are the Griddy and Renegade. You can buy skins and pickaxes as well so you can have a variety of options to play the game as. Fortnite made 5.1 billion dollars in 2021, and they will definitely make more as more players start to come back in 2022.

What made Fortnite so popular is that it was free to play, yet felt like a well developed game that should cost upwards of $60. To this day Fortnite is still free on all consoles as well as on Android and google play stores. Hop in a game today and get that Victory Royale!
