Brady and Belichick have been one of the greatest duos in NFL history.  The two of them have been torching defenses together since 2001. Now ,with Brady on a different team, we are hearing new information that  leads us to believe that the two of them might not have had as good of a relationship as we thought.

During the 2019 season, the Patriots had very few weapons. The Patriots did very little to try and fill the holes they had on offense, and once again Brady was forced to put the team on his back. Needless to say ,Brady was frustrated with how things were going in New England. With no help on offense ,Brady was able to go 12-4. After the season ended, Brady became a free agent. He decided to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Tom Brady’s dad had strong feelings about the situation the decision to let his son leave the Patriots. Here is what he said on NBC “Damn right. Belichick wanted him out the door and last year he threw 56 touchdowns–I think that’s a pretty good year.”

Bill Belichick did very little to replace Tom. As a matter of fact he did not do anything until Cam Newton got cut just a few weeks before the start of the 2021-2022. He signed Cam to a one year contract. Bill and the Patriots went 7 and 9 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

Seeing that Cam Newton was not the answer for the team moving forward, they decided to part ways with him and draft Mac Jones 15th overall in the draft. The new face of the franchise had a solid start in his first few games performing better than all of the other rookie quarterbacks in the league.

When Brady left New England it was one of the biggest shocks the NFL has ever seen. In Brady’s first season with Tampa Bay he went 11 and 5 and won a Super Bowl. Tampa has not won a super bowl in over 18 years. Brady helped them win they won 31-9. This year they had a good start to the season taking on the  Falcons and absolutely killing them 48 to 25. Then they went on to play L.A, and they ended up losing to the Rams, but then the return happened Brady returned to Gillette stadium to take his old team the New England Patriots.

This matchup was one of the most hyped up games in NFL history. The average ticket cost to attend the game was $1,100 dollars, which was the most expensive sporting event in Boston history. The game was a nail biter till the very end. eventually Tampa Bay was able to get a 19 to 17 win over the Patriots.  Mac Jones and Tom Brady both played great. Tom went 22-43 for 269 yards. Mac went 31-40 for 275 yards 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. The two quarterbacks battled to the very end.

This game finally put an end to the Brady vs Belichick debate. Brady came out on top and was able to prove all of his haters wrong once again. For the past two years Brady has outplayed belichick. Now he actually did outplay him by beating Belichick 19 to 17.
