The French Clery was revealed to have a scandal of sexual abuse for 70 years. The investigation has estimated that 216,000 children suffered abuse, according to“Reuters.  The Catholic Church turned eyes away from the situation for far too long. Head of commission, Jean Marc Sauve of the topic reported that “the church had shown deep, total, and even cruel indifference for years.” The peak of the abuse was found in 1950’s-1960’s reported Dave Gibson, director of the Center of Religion and Culture at Fordham University. This statistic is shown to be consistent with other churches in many countries.

The problem of abuse within churches has shown to be widespread in a terrible sense. This finding has caused awareness for people to speak up of the abuse. After the findings from the Boston Globe 20 years ago exposing the child abuse in Catholic Churches. This  has caused investigations around the globe. The revelation has caused outcries of abuse in Catholic Churches around the world.

This topic has been found to be very important in the modern day world. The abuse that has occurred in these churches shows abuse of power, lies, and  cover up stories to hide the abuse. The abuse has enlightened many of what goes on behind closed doors. Pope Francis has been enlightened, and the Vatican Stated, “First of all his thoughts go to the victims, with great sorrow, for their wounds,” the statement said from NPR.  adding that the pope  also felt “gratitude for the courage they had shown in denouncing what they had been through.”

The fight for this cause continues to grow. After these findings, redemption from these indifferences has brought forward to make a change. The abuse suffered is cruel, and the many souls deserve justice for the pain that had been suffered over 70 years. The public announcement of the abuse shows that the closed doors will no longer cause people to look away, but a deeper look into the events occurring. For the victims ,this is a fight, and this clergy caused much suffering.

The everlasting pain the children faced will be scars left with them for life. The memories will always be there. BBC reported that people did not believe in the abuse when it was reported, “The report, which is nearly 2,500 pages long, said the “vast majority” of victims were boys, many of them aged between 10 and 13. It said the Church had not only failed to prevent abuse but had also failed to report it, at times knowingly putting children in contact with predators.” Revealing that the pain was avoided, and not reported. Evidently showing that suffering was long lasting, and can never be taken back.
