The Effectiveness Of The Vaccine

Amy DiVito

Since the Covid-19 vaccine has come out there have been speculations on its accuracy. There are three different types of vaccines you can take in the U.S . There is Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. The Johnson & Johnson is the only vaccine that does not use mRNA technology and is only one shot instead of two. Johnson & Johnson was the first to go under speculation after blood clots were confirmed to come from this vaccine according to The New York Times . There were 15 confirmed cases in women and 6 in males. The New York Times also stated,  “The trend is that the reporting rates are higher in females compared to males in all age categories,” Dr. Shimabukuro said at the meeting.” This was the start to the conspiracies about the covid vaccines.

When these vaccines came out everyone was happy about a cure, but some soon felt unsure of it. Even though there are numerous health benefits from this vaccine from both the CDC and Center of Disease control, some don’t like the idea of being pressured to get the vaccine. The KFF organization said “Republicans and Republican-leaning independents in the “wait and see” group are more likely to believe that the threat posed by COVID-19 is exaggerated and that vaccination is a personal choice.” A lot of people don’t like the idea of the government forcing a vaccine on them. That is why they are so unsure about the vaccine to begin with.

There are 22 different types of vaccines used around the whole world. The most common is the Pfizer vaccine. The only real reported problem against this vaccine is allergic reactions from the CDC. These might include swelling, pain, redness, an itchy rash, and other mild forms of irritation. The other vaccine most commonly used is the Moderna which is just like the Pfizer vaccine. There Are some benefits to these vaccines. Some include the effectiveness of the vaccine “ the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was 95% effective at preventing laboratory-confirmed infection with the virus that causes COVID-19 in people who received two doses and had no evidence of being previously infected.” I think having a 95% accuracy is amazing and also these vaccines keep you from having to test before traveling and not having to test weekly for colleges. It also reduces the risk of getting an infection. There is also a new study from Center for Disease Control that proves “They found that expectant mothers who receive the COVID-19 vaccine create antibodies to the virus and pass those to their unborn baby through the placenta.” Therefore it is giving immunity for the child as well. Just look into the vaccine both pros and cons of it to truly decide if it is meant for you.
