As a newer console just coming out three years ago, the Nintendo Switch still makes its presence known in the video game world. Releasing on March 3, 2017, the Nintendo Switch is still going strong and showing no signs of slowing down with brand new updates, games, and even accessories coming out for it to this day . The Switch sets itself as unique for many different reasons. The Switch has a starting price of $299 for a new one, so it is a lot cheaper than other consoles and you are still able to play new games. The one major difference is that it comes with a docking station that you can hook up to your TV or monitor so you can play your games at home or on the go.

With the docking station you are able to play at home or on the go. If you want to take your switch out to a friends house or on a road trip you just slide it out of the dock. When you take it out of the dock none of your data gets lost and the switch does not turn off unless you turn it off.  Another big thing is the Joy Cons that come with the switch. The Joy Cons are small little remotes that go on the side of the Switch and they can act as one whole controller or two small controllers for multiplayer games. You can even separate the joycons and play multiplayer games with your friends and family on the go by just sliding the Joy Cons out and propping it up with its built in kickstand. Another bonus about them is that they come with a controller mold so you can play games and have a real controller in your hands. Pcmag.com states “As a handheld game system, the switch feels large but comfortable. It’s thicker than a tablet but much thinner than a Wii U Gamepad”

Another big plus about the Switch is that you can upgrade the storage very easily. All you need to do is buy a micro SD card of your choice and then put it behind the switch and now you have even more space for even more games.  There is also a wide variety of games for the switch such as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Party, and Mario Odyssey.

Options with the switch are limitless. You can do so many things with it from single player games, to online games, to even a family game night.  According to a few of my friends I have asked they personally love the switch and think it’s a great edition and it is a good console for both one person or an entire family to have fun.
