On October 23, Luke Combs released a new deluxe  album, “What You See Ain’t Always What You Get”. When you first look at the album you may see many songs you have already heard. That is because 18 of these songs are from his sophomore album “What You See Is What You Get” that was released in 2019. Along with Luke’s new album came five brand new songs. These brand new songs show Why Luke is one of the best country artists country music has ever seen. 

“Forever after all”,  one of Luke’s new songs,  is one of Luke’s greatest songs. As many gather from the lyrics, “but they ain’t seen us together”. This is a love song for his new wife Nicole. Luke talks about how “They say nothing lasts forever, But they ain’t seen us together”. By saying this Luke is telling his listeners that many things do not last forever but he has found something so spectacular that he believes it will last forever.Elena Dube says, ”It hits so hard, The way he talks about finally finding something that is permanent”. Many of Lukes songs have very deep meanings behind them. 

“Without you” is a song Luke wrote to thank his family for everything they have done for him. When Luke says “But me don’t mean a thing without you” he is talking about how the only reason he is in the place he is, is because of everything his family has done for him. I personally love this song because it is so personal to him, You can tell how genuine he is from his word choice in this song. 

“My Kinda Folk” Is about the “working class”. “We’re the plumbers and the preachers

The pre-K teachers, The mailman in your neighborhood, But it doesn’t matter what we do, We damn sure do it good”. This is one of Luke’s many songs that reminds us of how Luke was raised and how humble he is. Luke is  just a small town boy who was raised in North Carolina who does not forget his roots at all. This song is very upbeat, giving listeners the feeling that they should get up and dance. This song is definitely one to remember. 

“The Other Guy” , is a breakup song, that shows listeners how deep Luke really is. One line of the song that makes me see how deep Luke can be is “Yeah, it might look like I’m doin’ alright, but you should see the other guy”. when Luke refers to “the other guy” you can gather that he is talking about the other side that the guy is not showing his ex. I think this song is a side of Luke that he doesn’t show too often, that’s why it is definitely on my top 10 luke combs songs list.

Many fans have heard Lukes other new song “As Cold As You”. When he posted an acoustic version on youtube back on June 23rd 2020. As the acoustic version is obviously amazing. I personally like the one that was recorded in the studio better.  This song is written from the perspective of a guy who is at a bar drinking and reflecting on how his ex treated him. “This broke heart fool on an old barstool, drinking beer almost as cold as you”. I find that while this song is amazing it is not as catchy as Lukes other songs.

I personally love all of Luke combs music. He is an amazing vocalist and tells a story in every song he puts out. On november 2nd, Luke’s new album debuted at number 1 on billboard’s top 200.  Luke shared on instagram thanking his supporters, for the outpour of love on this album. These new songs are amazing and I can not wait to see what he will come out with next.
