PS5 vs. XBox Series X

Chris Baldwin

As the holiday season is slowly sneaking up on us, the releases of the PS5 and Xbox series X are right around the corner and the most common question is, “Which one?”. With a little bit of similarities but still a lot of differences, both systems are really good additions to the console scene and great competitors. The two systems had a very close release date with the Xbox being released on November 10th and the PS5 being released on November 12th.

The release date for the PS5 will be November 12th, for the US, Canada, Japan and Australia and November 19th for the rest of the world. With a starting cost of $399 for the digital edition and a price of $499 for the standard edition. From test demo’s shown at the PS5 events, loading screens are now no longer a pain. With loading screens being almost instant, this solves the old problem of waiting anywhere from 30 seconds to even 5 minutes for games to load.

The base PS5 will have 664GB of internal space for games but it will have USB ports on the outside of the system allowing for external drives to add more space. According to Techradar.com, the PS5 is also backwards compatible with most PS4 games, and you can even use the PS4 controller for the PS4 games. The PS5 will also have some exciting exclusive games, such as the new Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, and a Demon Souls remake.

With a release date of November 10th, just two days before the PS5, the Xbox Series X will be thrown into the mix of the gaming console scene. The Xbox series X will have a starting price of $499, which is around the same price as the standard PS5 and 1TB of storage.

Some exclusives for the Xbox series x are Halo Infinite and Senua’s Saga: HellBlade 2.  Cyberpunk 2077 will also be released alongside the Xbox series x . The Xbox series x will be backwards compatible with games going back to the original Xbox that came out in 2001.
