The coronavirus is changing everything, one being our school’s clubs. With limited school time, the advisors of the clubs are not sure what to tell their students for the 20-21 school year.

It has been announced that after school clubs are able to happen.  Everybody will still have to take the necessary precautions. For example the six ft rule and wearing a mask at all times. Some clubs may have to be all virtual this year, but with all the changes going on in the world what is one more?

Project Hope will be looking different this year. The main question was, since Project Hope is a very popular club and many students are involved, how are the meetings going to be held? Ms. Bird and Ms. Treanor stated, “With many students in various Cohorts, I would guess that Ms. Treanor and I will try our best to hold hybrid meetings. I personally would love to keep an in-person component.¨

Also, as many of you may know the fashion show for Project Hope is our biggest fundraiser for the year. It has been a success for many years and has raised so much money fo/r Cancer. This is a very popular show and  Ms. Bird and Ms. Treanor states that  “ I hold out hope that things will look differently in the spring! We will have to make adjustments, and there is little chance that the fashion show will look like the “norm” from the past. We will have to be extremely calculated in asking businesses and families for donations, as they may have been impacted by the economic shutdown from COVID-19. We will have to get creative!¨

Lastly, many people have donated in the past to this amazing cause. Normally, throughout the year we have many different fundraisers but like a lot of things, that is going to have to be different this year. Ms. Bird and Ms. Treanor has planned, “Although the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted virtually all aspects of life, something that is ongoing is the prevalence of cancer. I wish cancer got shut down just like the country did! We will do our best to continue to fundraise, following CDC guidelines, and keeping in mind that many have been financially impacted by this pandemic. As of right now, Timberlane is not allowing more than two  spectators per athlete at events, but there is potential that we could identify play for the cure games and ask the teams to do their best to fundraise amongst parents, friends, and family to help this great cause. We still want to recognize, honor, and remember those in our community who have battled with cancer. (Ms. Bird, Ms. Treanor)” The school appreciates all that Ms. Treanor, Ms. Bird and all the members of Project Hope do for the school.

This year is extremely unpromising but everybody is trying to do their best to make sure we all get the most of it!
