With all of the events of 2020, many people are asking themselves the question of, “what else could possibly go wrong?” For Boston sports fans, the question was sadly answered on the night of August 31st, 2020. 

For those who do not know, the Boston Bruins are a professional American hockey team that plays in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). Due to COVID-19, the regular season was completed as of March 11th, 2020. With this, the teams that would play in the playoffs were announced and the Boston Bruins were one of these teams. 

In the first round, the Bruins beat the Carolina Hurricanes with 4 wins and only 1 loss. From there, they went on to play against the Tampa Bay Lightning. 

The Bruins played their first game against the Lighting on August 23rd, leading the series 1-0. Sadly, from there it just goes downhill. 

The Boston Bruins lost the next three games, losing the final game in a double-overtime with a final score of 3-2. Very coincidentally, the Bruins won their first game of the playoffs, against the Hurricanes, in a double-overtime. 

With this sad ending came many disappointed fans. One of these fans, Trevor Baggett, had some words on the ending saying that the final was, “heartbreaking and quite honestly frustrating.” 

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars in the finals naming them the 2020 Stanley Cup Champions.
