The Salisbury beach blood drive was hosted in December 2021 at the Blue Ocean Music Hall. The blood drive was held in memory of Richard “Red” McDonald, a long-time member of the Salisbury Beach Betterment Association (SBBA).
The Salisbury Beach collaboration with the Red Cross hosts blood drives at Salisbury Beach located at four Oceanfront Salisbury Beach. The drives usually run in the afternoon from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. The events aim to gain blood to donate, well honoring community members. There have been many blood drives held in memory of people. For the drive and memory of David, the donors got $15 gift cards.
In December 2023 an instagram post from the SBBA highlighted a blood drive held in memory of Bob White. Before his passing from pancreatic cancer, White was a vocal and active member of the Salisbury community. His friendly and involved nature left a lasting impression on those around him.
In honor for Kevin each donor received a special Red Cross t-shirt. those willing to give blood can go to redcross.org and make an appointment. They also can be made through the phone. These blood drives are a big part of SBBAS bigger mission to support Public Health locally. According to the SBBAs website “The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community” . The local drives reduce the need by bringing donation opportunities into the community.
