On July 4, 2025 a horrific flood left Texas in a devastated situation. This deadly flood left 120 dead and more than 170 people missing. This left a ton of sadness and frustration in Texas Hill Country for families and people involved. All of this occurred in Texas because the Gulf has been heating up causing more moisture which is fuel for floods, stated by Yale Climate Connections. After this devastating flood people were questioning the federal government and what their responses were.
An Austin Texas congressman demanded records that would help tell the story of July 4th. “I’ve never received a written response,” stated in NBC News. This push the congressman is making for the release of records highlights gaps in the public accounting of what actually happened on the day of the flood.
During the immediate aftermath of the floods, according to NBC, independent meteorologists said that the National Weather Service issued timely warnings. The news came to be controversial as this was not clear to the people affected by it and to this day it is still not clear.

In fact this flood was 10th highest for U.S. floods on record, Stated by WFAA News. Four people still lost their lives in this deadly flash flood.
