On September 9th, 2001 a monkey was spotted in the streets of Danville, New Hampshire. The Danville fire chief spotted the wooly monkey walking down the street and he couldn’t believe his eyes.
“It jumped out of the trees, and as soon as he hit the ground, he took a giant leap and went back where he came from. The first thought I had was: That’s nothing that’s native to here.” Kimball , the local fire chief, told the Sentinel hill press.
According to Chowdaheadz , a new england news website, parents in the local Danville area were hesitant to let their children out at night due to the monkey. The town officials might think the occurrence of the Devil Monkey was caused by the owner accidentally releasing it. According to WCVB the local citizens of Danville believed that the monkey was then recaptured by its original owner.
A news reporter from WCVB said the people of Danville were really eager to find this devilish monkey. They came together to bring a female monkey to the town to get the local legend out from hiding. Their plan with the monkey was to have the female wooly monkey give mating calls to try to get the monkey out from the woods to capture it.
To this day the unexpected Devil Monkey of Danville was never located or seen again. Many have forgotten about the monkey and stopped caring about how he got there.
