As the end of the school year comes up, I’ve been reflecting on the years that have gone by. 5 years of elementary school, 3 years of middle school, and 4 years of high school, all coming to an end in a week. After reflecting on these past 12 years, I have some advice for all of the underclassmen:
First of all, stay focused on your academics. As classes get harder, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, and asking for help when you need it can make a huge difference. Teachers actually do want to see you succeed, so don’t be afraid to speak up or stay after class for extra support.
Second of all, have fun. High school will help you create some of the best memories of your life with people that you have spent your whole childhood with. Take time to enjoy these moments because in the blink of an eye, it’s all over. High school is one of the last times of your life that you can be a kid, so don’t take it for granted. This may be the last time you see most of your classmates ever, take advantage of the time you have left. Be yourself. It doesn’t matter what other people think of you, just be you and have fun. Take advantage of every opportunity you get in high school, because it will all be over before you know it.
Sincerely, Nick DiNapoli
