Timberlane softball is going into the 2025 season with 9 seniors. What’s it going to be like once we’re gone? To think that you only need 9 players to play a game and the whole field could be seniors this year. After interviewing our varsity Coach, Eric Schonenberger, we learned a lot about his feelings towards the upcoming season and losing all of his seniors. Coach Schonenberger said he is “hopeful, with the amount of seniors that are coming back this year. I believe our fielding and players that play fielding positions will be able to make plays that are needed to compete. I think with the offense our bats will be just as effective as our offense and all around a great bunch of girls.” He seems very confident in the team’s potential, stating,“I think we’ll make it to the playoffs with our record.” We are playing a huge number of good teams this year but the team is ready and prepping for a very competitive and fun filled season. We then talked about his feelings towards losing 9 seniors this year. He said that it’s “definitely a big loss for the program but we do have great talent coming in behind them”. The freshmen that are already here are very talented and are going to play a big role in the team’s success once the seniors are gone. Coach hasn’t had to have this big of a loss of seniors since he got here 7 years ago. Overall the team thus far has competed with all competition that has been in front of them. We know that they will continue to do so throughout this season as well.
