How can you mention New England sports without talking about the nine time World Series champion Boston Red Sox? With the Red Sox season being only 2 days away, many people are interested in what is in store for this season. With a record of 81-81 and a failed attempt at a World Series title with the Red Sox missing out on the Wild Card game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora knew that changes had to be made to this roster. This was evident as the Red Sox, being one of the worst teams pitching wise outside of Tanner Houck, added the likes of veterans Garrett Whitlock of the White Sox and Walker Buehler of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Along with these moves, they have a young pitcher coming back from injury. Bryan Bello has shown promise throughout his first three seasons in the league, getting better each year.
A major problem with the Red Sox roster last year was a lack of leadership, which was apparent in the lineup. With the Red Sox returning big-name players hoping to step into that role such as the lefty slugger Rafael Devers and speed demon Jarren Duran being back in the mix this season. This lineup also has multiple young players looking to break out with the likes of Triston Casas and Ceddane Rafaela.
You cannot mention young players for the Red Sox without mentioning the farm system of top prospects Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell. The icing on the cake was the signing of Alex Bregman, a third baseman who gives the Red Sox a solid glove in the field along with satisfying a desperate need for a right handed batter. With this new look Red Sox squad they looked primed and ready to run the tables on the whole league and play some October baseball.
