Timberlane Owls are coming off of a tough season that ended with a 1-17 record. The team is returning two out of the five starters including, Liam Kelley and Jeremy Mlocek. They are also returning some players that had solid roles last season. In total seven out of the eleven guys on the team from last year are returning. Players like Matt Fitzgerald, Mike Santosuosso, and Andrew Pantano all had a big role on the team last year making the upcoming season look very promising.
When asking Jeremy Mlocek if he has higher expectations this season in comparison to last season, he says, “ I mean yea, we won one game. I think we will bounce back and have a better year. We definitely have some more experience at the Varsity level”. Jeremy stays positive with the outlook of the season. He was the team’s highest scorer last season and hopes to have an even better season this year.
Similarly when talking to other players on the team like Andrew Pantano he says, “ I think we have a lot of returning players, so we will hopefully have a little chemistry there”. When we asked him if he thinks our schedule will help the team feel confident due to playing six Divison II teams he says,” Yes, I think playing these DII teams will help us sneak a couple more wins throughout the season. My personal goal is to go 9-9”.
Varsity head coach Jeffrey Baumann says “Yea I think well be certainly improved this year, I think we improved over last year. I think even if you looked at our season kind of first half, second half, you’re a much different team and group as the season went. I think well have a lot of that group back to hopefully kind of set the expectations where we left off and continue to kind of grow from there and I think that would be a good starting point for us”. Not only does the team have higher expectations for this season but so does Coach Baumann. The owls are hoping to come out stronger this year and be able to use the experience they have under their belts to carry them to many more victories than last year.
Beating the Owls 1-17 record last season seems to be an easy goal for the Owls to achieve based off how they think their season this year is going to go. They seem to have high hopes of a bounce back year.
