Timberlane’s Project Hope is getting the opportunity for the first time to host a Spooky Walk. If you don’t know, Project Hope is a club at Timberlane that raises money for families who are directly affected with cancer. The money that is raised is donated to families in the community who have loved ones who are battling cancer through the angel fund. This year, during the spirit week carnival, instead of having a normal booth, Project Hope got to take a more creative approach. They were able to have a spooky walk for students to walk through for just $3. The Spooky Walk had student “actors” to scare the participants as they walked through. The actors had the job of dressing in appropriate costumes and jumping out to scare people as they walked through.
In order for this to be successful, a lot had to go on behind the scenes. Project Hope is a fundamental part of our community, typically if something is run by Project Hope people are willing to come together and help. The Spooky Walk proved to do just that, while resources and props at school are limited, a leader was able to post on FaceBook to ask for donations. People were just asked to donate their decorations for the night, but every person who allowed Project Hope to borrow their decorations, has allowed them to keep it forever. This is not only kind of them, but this will allow Project Hope to create a new tradition for future years to create their own adaptations of the Spooky Walk.
