This school year’s Spirit Week will be held 10/21-10/25. There are plans of another Spirit Week school dance, the carnival held on the football field, and of course the pep rally held every year in the gym. Spirit Week is a time where students and faculty are encouraged to represent the school and express their own individuality. Participating in popular activities and trending fashions, Spirit Week is enjoyed by the majority of staff and students.
This year, the themes for each day of the week include Cities, Rhyme Without Reason, American Pride, Surfers vs. Bikers and lastly Color/Toga day. Spirit week is an amazing time for freshmen to participate in the events at school and get to know upperclassmen. When asked for advice for freshmen, most upperclassmen said that freshmen should try their best to participate all day. It may seem awkward or embarrassing at first, but most people really get into it!
Listening to some of our peers around school, we have found that people either have a definite idea of their outfit or have no clue what to wear on the Biker vs. Surfer themed day. For this day people have been getting their outfit ideas from classic surf movies, such as Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie.
During the pep rally, there is to be a reveal of Timberlane’s new school mascot. An owl will be making an appearance on that Friday. The grades are put against each other in a few competitive events during the pep rally, but please make sure to remain kind and respectful to others.
Seniors: this is your year to finally wear Togas on Color Day! Make them unique and don’t wait until the last minute. Make sure whatever you choose to wear is appropriate, and be ready to be loud at the pep rally!
Saturday, October 26th is the date of the spirit week dance. The dress code is country club attire, nothing too casual but nothing too “out there”. We suggest for girls to wear short dresses rather than longer ones and also wear heels if you can, compared to sneakers. All benefits of this year’s spirit week school dance will be going to the freshman class of 2028.
Spirit week is a time to come together as a community. Make sure to make smart decisions and treat everyone with respect and kindness so that we can continue the school’s tradition of Spirit week.
