After Dick Van Dyke was declared an A- List host for the 2024 Emmy Awards, it was found that he did not show at any point during the night, with no indication why.
Recently, he won the coveted Emmy Award at age 98, two years older than the previously recorded Emmy winner, Carl Reiner. Dick Van Dyke gained popularity for his leading role in Mary Poppins in 1964, and became a Disney Legend 24 years after. The actor and American talk show host starred in The Dick Van Dyke Show and The New Dick Van Dyke Show in the 60’s and 70’s. Along with acting in movies like Divorce American Style, Dick Tracy and Night At The Museum in 2006, he has taken over the hearts of thousands of avid Disney fans.
It’s speculated that Van Dyke is struggling with some health issues although it has not been confirmed. As of Monday morning, he has been seen in good health walking out of a pharmacy in Malibu, California. The actor stated that he’s “just praying that I make it” to his 99th birthday on December 13th.
As he was walking out of the pharmacy, reporters asked about his absence. They were informed by Van Dyke himself that he was feeling “fine but old.” A representative stated that “He expresses his gratitude to all of those who have continued to support him but, at almost 99 years of age, traveling and interacting with thousands of people is more than he is able to do at this time.”
