Being a hockey player has a reputation of being a hard thing to do with all of the skating and school work that you have to balance with. While playing hockey takes up a lot of time during a player’s life, it basically becomes your second life. What I mean by that is you are practicing M-F 3 hrs a day and you will have two games on the weekends. That being said you have to balance your time schedule meaning working out, eating right, And drinking 1 gallon of water a day.
While you do dedicate a lot of time to playing hockey you also have to be on top of your school work. Nowadays Hockey coaches and colleges want a student athlete to have good grades and have an excellent academic lifestyle. While playing hockey and doing school work coaches specifically always ask how are your grades and how are you doing in school. Grades and your school appearance are a big part in a hockey player’s life. If you are a good student with good grades and a good hockey player any school and or team will take you. A team that would be looking at these would be colleges and junior teams. The coach wants to know what type of player he is getting and your school appearance is a big part of that. If you are a great hockey player and bad student you won’t go very far in hockey.

If you lack the right foods like meats,vegetables, and fruits or food in general you will lose an unhealthy amount of weight. When playing hockey you will lose weight no matter what because you are burning 3,000 calories a day, so you need to be replenishing your body with the right nutrition.
All and all the amount of particularly small details goes into hockey is really incredible and fascinating. You don’t think hockey players have to do these things until it is spoken about. For example, making sure you’re eating healthy,working out,and having a positive mindset. That being said, hockey is definitely a fascinating sport to be talked about because there are so many different things that go on behind the scenes.
