Over the years, the Earth’s fluctuation in temperature has increased more due to the increase in CO2 levels. This has caused many places to have a large increase or decrease in their temperature. This can be noticed especially in places like New England where temperatures went from 80 degrees fahrenheit to 34 degrees. It can be especially noticed in the Amazon where Sao Paulo from NPR states, “ More than 100 dolphins have died in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest in the past week.” In late September many fish and dolphins were found dead on the shore by local fisherman, saying it was due to the waters reaching a temperature of up to 102 Degrees Fahrenheit.
This is not something new, the rising levels in CO2 have caused a large fluctuation in temperature. With the growing population, has caused people to use more greenhouse gas emitting devices like cars and other items. The increase in usage has caused a very large increase in CO2 levels. According to NASA, CO2 levels have increased 150% since the 1750s. This has caused the water to rapidly warm up. With the air staying warm there is no availability for the water to cool down. This has destroyed many ecosystems and killed tons of species.
The rising temperatures have also caused many droughts, like in Africa where they already get severe droughts. This warm weather has caused many problems in Brazil. The dried up rivers which were once used to transport food and water can no longer be used. With there being little to no access to them many people are starting to starve. It is believed that this might affect 500,000 civilians in Brazil by the end of this year. It’s not only food and water that they are transporting, but also people. The Amazons Civil defense is trying their best to distribute food and water to the native civilizations. They are struggling due to the fact that transportation is cut back.
