Plaistow NH — Does a fierce student section impact the outcome of a game? Some believe that a loud and aggressive group of students will affect how the game is played. Others believe that sportsmanship and respectful students will make the game better. The student section of Timberlane High School is known as one of the most nefarious student sections in the whole state.

Around the state of New Hampshire, the Owl’s Nest is considered one of the hardest places to play as an away team no matter the sport. Timberlane’s sports community is very proud and enjoys supporting the local teams. The students here always make a solid effort to come to any of the games.

Whether it is a home game or an away game the TRHS fan section is always ready to support their teams. Many Timberlane students follow the @TRHSFANSECTION Instagram page where they post about the themes and game times and get everyone fired up to attend the games. When asking the head football coach Kevin Fitzgerald about the impact of the student section he said,

“Our students support our athletic teams a great deal and football is no different. From there, nights to have a good group of kids they travel to away games as well, so it provides us with an outstanding Friday night atmosphere.”

Even though Coach Fitz is focused on the game he can’t help but appreciate the support that the Timberlane community shows on Friday nights. He gives credit to the boosters and what they are able to put together on a game day. The football booster program is run by Jackie Kelly who has been a part of the Timberlane football community for many years and understands what it takes to put on a good show for the people.

Home-field advantage is a huge part of Owl’s athletics. Our unique field conditions and the district-wide support that the teams receive make it a big part of our culture. “Having home-field advantage definitely helps and having your crowd on your side is always a positive thing, especially here I think that we have a very good student section and it motivates our players to play better at times” said Freshman football Coach Alex Horgan. With a good student section, it can lead to big swings in momentum and help get the boys going on a Friday night.

In conclusion, a strong prideful student section can affect the game’s outcome. The Timberlane Owls student section demonstrates how a passionate student section can boost their chances of winning. Known as the most nefarious student section in NH, the owl’s fans make it hard for opposing teams to play here. The student section gives the students something to look forward to during the week. Many students get excited to participate in themes and support their friends during big games here at Timberlane.
