Crocs are slowly becoming the new wave of footwear. Crocs were invented in 2002 and for many years were considered a joke and ugly by people. Over the last half decade high school students/athletes have begun to wear crocs for their comfort and style.

They’re made of soft rubber and are easy to slip on and off. They also have sport mode for when you want to run or be more physically active. Probably their most attractive feature is jibbitz which are tiny rubber cut outs of anything you want that go onto the top of your crocs to personalize them and drip them out.

Originally crocs were made as boat shoes. They were made out of croslite which is special to crocs and performs well in water and on land. They’re also designed with holes in them for air/water filtration which people later used for jibbitz.

Jibbitz were not created until 3 years after crocs by Sheri Schmelzer. By the end of that year they were in 3,000 retail stores around the US and had grown by 10 times in that year. A year later, in October 2006 crocs came to a $20million agreement with the Schmelzer’s and bought jibbitz.

Crocs Annual Revenue

(Millions of US $)

2021 $2,313
2020 $1,386
2019 $1,231
2018 $1,088
2017 $1,024
2016 $1,036
2015 $1,091
2014 $1,198
2013 $1,193
2012 $1,123
2011 $1,001
2010 $790

My guess is that crocs will continue to grow and make money. Their unique design and customization feature of the jibbitz make them a one of a kind shoe. They can also be worn in basically any situation or place.
