2022 Grammys Outfit Review

The 2022 Grammy  award show has had many mixed reviews over the internet regarding the celebrities red carpet attire, but according to The Zoe Report, some of these looks may turn out to be, “some of the most iconic yet.”  This year felt like a hit or miss with the celebrities outfits, because even though some celebrities’ outfits had jaws on the floor, others could also say they caused the same reaction, but certainly not for the same reason.

The Grammys award show is a place where celebrities better show up and show out if they want to be remembered. This event, compared to others such as the Oscars, is much more eccentric, and requires much more effort to please the crowd. To make it at the Grammys, a classy and well styled outfit can do well, but the unconventional and more eye-catching outfits will always steal the headlines. However, some celebrities can end up taking that idea a little too far, and some of the looks seen in previous years, as well as this year have shown that. The Grammys is all about showing what kind of person you are, and what kind of celebrity you want to be, but here’s what many think about this year’s outfit lineup.

According to CNN news, some celebrities who really stole the red carpet this year were SZA, Lil Nas X, and Doja Cat.  Singer SZA was dressed in beige tulle Jean Paul Gaultier dress, with flowers draped down the front, and certainly held an elegant yet unique aura on the carpet with the attire. Lil Nas X blew paparazzi away with a custom embroidered suit by Balmain. The suit is all white with intricate embroidery along the whole body, with complimenting patches on the arms and chest. Finishing off the singers who caught our eyes, Doja cat with not one, but two breathtaking outfits. Her first look, an ice blue Versace gown paired with a glass purse. Her second look for performing was also Versace attire, but was a nude shimmery dress with a thigh high slit. These three attendants went above and beyond our expectations and we hope to see many more looks like this in the future.

On the other side of this year’s outfits, some celebrities really did just not understand the assignment. According to South China Morning Post, some celebrities who have been under fire for their outfits this year were, Tayla Parxs, Dillon Francis, and Justin Bieber. To start off, Tayla Parxs’ outfit was clearly intended to make a statement, but she ended up just giving Super Mario Bros yoshi vibes. She was dressed in a custom bright green Bcalla jumpsuit with green spikes coming on the arms and legs, with matching yellow boots, and critics said her “Super Mario-esque dinosaur ensemble truly looked more like she was on her way to a costume party than the Grammys.” Along with Tayla, singer Justin Beiber attempted to make a statement with a generic oversized gray suit, paired with a neon pink beanie, and black platform crocs… Need I  say more. Another example, is Dillon Francis showed up giving “deliberately nothing” with a gray t-shirt and jeans, along with checkered vans and a walgreens bag as accessories. Another example that does not need much explanation, but it’s simply because all these celebrities didn’t not understand how to impress the Grammys.

Over the years, we have seen plenty of different types of looks on the carpet, and celebrities will always find new ways to surprise us. Overall this year could be considered very ‘Hit or Miss’ because the many attendees either went above and beyond the expectations, or completely missed them. Either way, it’s always something we love to see and many are already anticipating next year’s line up.
