Atkinson Country Club Fully Opening!

Sydney Monahan

Everyone better be ready to put away their winter jackets and take out their tanks and shorts, because summer has come at the Atkinson Country Club! The country club is just like every other place in the winter. Its only amenity that it was able to offer was a restaurant with great food and a hotel. However, in the summer, the country club is a whole different world. It not only offers that same restaurant with inside and outside dining but it also offers 18- hole and 9- hole golf courses, along with the amazing driving range. The Atkinson Country Club also can be found hosting weddings almost every day through the summer season. As an employee of the Atkinson Country Club, I can give you an insider look at what goes on from my own experience and what I have learned from my managers and coworkers.

We are going to start off talking about the restaurant. About one week ago, the restaurant at Atkinson Country Club opened their outside patio for dining! The patio is located in the back of the building and placed perfectly so it overlooks the 18th hole of the golf course. This means you don’t only get excellent service and a great meal, but you also get a show to watch as you are eating. The only problem people may be thinking is that it is still a little too cold to sit outside. Well that is no problem at the country club. The patio is accessorized with many outside heater lamps. These lamps were purchased at the end of last year’s season so they are brand new and work amazing according to ACC restaurant managers. Not only does the patio have heaters, it is also decked out in string lights. With lights and heaters, the patio provides the perfect environment for a meal outside at any time of day.

Next, let’s talk about golf. On April 5th, 2021, the golf course officially opened at the Atkinson Country Club. The Country Club offers two completely different courses. The first course is a 18-hole golf course. The course wraps all around the left and back side of the resort. The course can be seen as you drive up the country club’s long main road which leads you to the main building. Always look out for some good swings as you drive in! The second course is a 9-hole par three course. This course is perfect for anyone interested in a small game of golf that is competitive and challenging, but doesnt take up 5-6 hours of your day.

Both of these courses are open to the public from dawn to dusk. Both courses also have beverage cart employees that can be found at any time of the day. They are there to help provide drinks to quench your thirst or provide any snack that is needed. However, the two courses aren’t the only thing the country club has to offer. It also has a driving range and putting green for anyone he wants to practice their swings before their tee time.

Aryana Anthony is currently a senior at Timberlane Regional High School. She has just been hired at AtkinsonCountry Club in the restaurant. Working while the patio has just opened has been a great experience for her. “ Now that the patio is opened, it feels as if the whole restaurant has come to life. There is just so much more energy in the environment that there wasn’t before. It helps the employees have a fun time working and the customers have a great experience.”

My dad, Mike Monahan, is a regular golfer at the country club. He spends his winters at the country club doing virtual golf, but is now thrilled that the course is open for the season. “I could not be more excited to get back out on the Atkinson course. It is one the more challenging courses I have golfed but definitely super enjoyable. It offers amazing views with obstacles that make the game more exciting. I can not wait to get out on the green and maybe even teach Syd some of my tricks!”

Employees and the community could not be more thrilled that the Atkinson Country club is now fully opened. Summer and warm weather can’t come soon enough!
