Super Bowl LV

Super Bowl LV was being lined up to be one of the greatest Super Bowls ever.  With the battle of Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, many people were calling it the MJ and Lebron matchup we never got.  The Bucs were also the first team to play the Super Bowl at home.  This Super Bowl had a lot on the line. Were the Chiefs going to complete the back to back? Or was Brady going to win his seventh ring–his first without Bill Belichick?  But Brady was chasing greatness and wasn’t going to let Mahomes and the Chiefs get in his way of ring number seven.

The game started and the first couple drives for both teams resulted in punts.  Finally, the Chiefs got on the board first with a field goal.  The following drive Brady and the Bucs would respond with Brady throwing an 8-yard TD to Gronk, putting the Bucs up 7-3.  The Bucs’ defense would hold strong and they would get the ball back where Brady again would throw a 17-yard TD to Gronk, putting Tampa up 14-3.  The Tampa Bay defense again would hold Mahomes and the Chiefs to a field goal, making it  14-6.  Brady would then lead the Bucs down the field where he would deliver a 1-yard TD to Antonio Brown. The Bucs led 21-6 going into half.

At the start of the second half, the Chiefs would receive the ball where they would punt.  The next couple of drives from both teams resulted in punts.  The Chiefs later kicked another field goal to make it 21-9.  In response to the field goal, the Bucs scored their next drive on a 27-yard touchdown run by Leonard Fournette, making the score 28-9.  Mahomes would then throw an interception, resulting in a Bucs field goal to make it 31-9.  In what looked like the final drive for the Chiefs, they were seeking to at least put a touchdown on the board when Mahomes threw one final pick on the 1-yard line that sealed the game for the Bucs.

The Bucs would go on to win Super Bowl LV by a score of 31-9.  The Chiefs were the number one ranked offense throughout the season, and the Bucs held them to 9 points and zero touchdowns. Most Patriots fans were rooting for Brady and Gronk in this game, and they didn’t disappoint.  This game was one for the ages as Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl–the most all-time by a player, and more than any franchise ever.

Seeing Brady and Gronk play so well together still and winning the Super Bowl their first year with the team is amazing.  The Super Bowl Parade in Tampa was also a sight to see.  Brady and Gronk finally celebrate in some warm weather having the time of their lives.  You could tell when Brady threw the Lombardi from one boat to another.  Watching this game was something special because you got to watch greatness at 43 years of age and I don’t think we will see anything like this again.
