2020 New England Patriots Season

The New England Patriots 2020 season was definitely one to forget for Patriots fans.  After a hyped up offseason following the signing of former MVP Cam Newton many Pats fans were prepared for another Super Bowl run.  Then, in the following month, multiple Patriots players opted out of the 2020 season due to Covid concerns or just trying to keep their family safe.

The Patriots started the season with a very dominant win over the Miami Dolphins.  Following that game, the Patriots had a record of 5-6 halfway through the season.  Patriots Quarterback Cam Newton was having quite the season running the ball, but when it came to passing he was bottom of the league in passing touchdowns.  Then, in a game where playoffs were already out of the question, Patriots all pro corner Stephon Gillmore tore his achilles.  Many wonder if Gilmore will return to the team next year because of the direction this team is heading.  The Patriots then proceeded to get to a Playoff deciding game when they would play their Division Rival Miami Dolphins.  And lose to snap their 11 straight playoff appearances.

It was definitely a tough season for Pats fans seeing the absence of Tom Brady really affecting the team.  For the younger generation all they have seen was the Patriots dominate every year, and now they are getting a glimpse of how being a Patriots fan was like before Tom Brady.  This was Bill Belichick’s first year without Brady, so maybe he will have a better plan ahead for the 2021 NFL season.  But as of right now the Patriots have the 15th pick in this year’s draft and should definitely look towards drafting a new QB because Cam Newton isn’t doing the job.
