Egypt has now opened a first ever restaurant called “The Nine Pyramids Lounge” on the most iconic and ancient pyramid plateau of Giza. The lounge provides a unique and picturesque view from the southern side of the plateau and overlooks its nine pyramids. Egypt has finally opened its doors in an attempt to boost the country’s badly-affected tourism sector. Tourists will soon be able to enjoy a delicious meal and enjoy live music closely distanced from the country’s most quintissential monument according to authorities.

The Nine Pyramids Lounge welcomed guests on Sunday, November 1, 2020, amid the ongoing pandemic that has also hit the country. The Coronavirus has accounted for the majority of Egypt’s tourism-related Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contributions substantially. As reported by Reuters, the tourism region of Egypt has reported monthly losses of around 1 billion dollars since March. Despite the pandemic, many people have decided to visit and dive into the cuisine. “Whether you are staying in the area or on a day tour, this restaurant is a great choice. Food is fresh, plentiful, and very reasonably priced.” This was stated by Lorrie L, who visited the restaurant this past week.  In hindsight, opening this restaurant with a list of these unique assets will entice travellers back to this popular destination.

When opening this restaurant, the owners endorsed the start of a trial run for the first environmentally friendly electric bus that makes trips through six main stations, which starts at the Abu al-Houl station, then returns to the Visitor Center Station. The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Khaled al-Anany, stated that the first electric tour buses are set to be used in the area by mid 2021 once they develop a project to improve tourist services. Also, he discussed that they will be used after banning the entry of regular cars and buses into the plateau in order to help preserve the location and make it a better environment for tourists. Moreover, their menu has many soups, hot appetizers, and main courses including grilled chicken with vegetables. Furthermore, this restaurant features an Egyptian countryside specialty pastry dish with assortments of cheese, honey, and molasses. Chairman and CEO of Orascom Pyramids, Naguib Sawiris, explained that during the first quarter of 2021, an italian restaurant, an oriental restaurant, and a cafe will also be opened in the area according to Egypt Independent.

Many environmentally friendly buses will soon be able to help guide the tourists around the plateau. “One of the problems always faced is that people say there are no special services for tourists, that there is no cafeteria, no restaurant, nothing that can be offered to visitors.” said Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities. The new facilities will be available for many tourists to utilize. Tourists will be satisfied with the time that they spend visiting this location.

Although Egypt has registered 100,000 Coronavirus cases, they are still working to attract more tourists amid the pandemic. Also, after long months of curfews, precautionary measures have been taken, and they have been able to reopen restaurants, cafes, theaters, museums, and cinemas with limited capacity. Despite Egypt’s heavy financial blow to their economic revenues, their main focus is to provide visitors with the preservation of pollution, and to also create an incredible experience for them.
