TRHS Gains New Resource Officer; Calley Bortz

Hannah Perron

Timberlane Regional High School warmly welcomes the new resource officer; Calley Bortz from the Plaistow Police Department. The students and staff are very excited to have her on board and be a part of the Timberlane Owls!

Calley has been in law enforcement since 2017 and has been a police officer for 5 years. Calley’s original intention was to join the military but her interest shifted and she started looking into law enforcement. She knew she wanted to make a difference and save lives regardless, which is why being a police officer was something she knew she wanted to do. She knew she could serve her country and make a difference in law enforcement, so being an officer was the pathway she decided to take and it was the best decision she has made. She is the only female officer at the Plaistow Police Department and wants young students to know that girls belong everywhere.

She took the job as the resource officer at Timberlane because the position was open and it was a goal she wanted to achieve. She plans on being a resource officer for 3-5 years and then continue her career as a police officer. She is also a juvenile prosecutor for the police department so she has experience with kids which is why she thought the position at Timberlane would be great because she has been in an environment with young adults and kids before.

She is a member of the Crisis Intervention Team and has various training skills in CIT Mental Health Awareness and De-Escalation. She has her masters degree in business and an undergrad degree in education. Before she was a police officer, she worked at multiple phone stores and worked as an insurance adjuster. She proves that it is never too late to follow your heart and make what you want of your life.

Outside her job in law enforcement, she has her own personal life which she is also very passionate about. She is a wife to a great and supportive man and a mom to her 3 pets. She has a cat named Weasley and two dogs named Severus and Gryffindor who she loves dearly. If you can’t tell by the name of her pets, she is a huge Harry Potter fan. She is a hard working and dedicated woman who takes pride in all the things she does in life.

The Timberlane Owls are happy to have Calley under our wing and super excited to have her in the Owls Nest. We are all looking forward to a great year with her!
